Our assignment from Cygnus Business consulting was to build a business intelligence application that would make use of the enormous amount economic data and industry data that the company collects in its every day business. Rather than store data in static excel sheets and static reports, Cygnus wanted to be able to enter all the data into one data base, and display it through their internet site, thereby breaking the mould of the business information publishing industry.
The system is scalable, with the ability to add additional verticals, regions and data points and caters for varying levels of access. In addition to the economic, industry and company information that is available there is a built in report builder, which allows comparative analysis of company data. Data is displayed in tables and graphs, which can be downloaded into excel and reports can also be downloaded as PDF documents.
